Finding a Holistic Primary Care Provider — My Experience with The Wellness Company
Real care. Real listening. Real health.
A Note from Christy
After giving up on finding a medical primary care doctor or nurse practitioner for myself and my family, one of you told me about a nurse practitioner you found not long ago — holistic, wonderful, and genuinely caring. That caught my attention and spurred me on to try one more time.
I have tried four other places in town and they were horrible. Clinics only wanting to inject everyone with GLP medications. Providers obsessed with prescribing cholesterol medications without understanding how cholesterol actually works or what the numbers really mean — just going by whatever is flagged. Rolling their eyes when I say I do not get adult vaccines. Writing my foot surgeon a letter saying I have high, untreated cholesterol. Being offended that I am a naturopath.
I am very clear and up front about what kind of care I want and need, and what I will pay for. We have co-pays and pay a great deal every month for so-called health insurance. If that is what it is called, that is what it should be — about health. I personally will not accept anything less.
Today I Saw Krystal Casias at The Wellness Company
My appointment went so well I feel like crying tears of joy. She is holistic. She admits she does not know everything and wants to learn more — same as me. She asked me what I need rather than telling me what I have to do.
I told her exactly what medical blood tests I want done. Some she had not heard of or did not fully understand the ratios, so I explained about copper, ceruloplasmin, Retinol A, and Morley Robbins — a minerals expert. She was completely on board.
I told her my cholesterol runs about 220 to 230 and I want it that high to protect my brain and hormones. She totally agreed. I told her my HDL runs in the 80s, my triglycerides are around 60 to 70 — meaning my diet is clean — and my LDL runs about 135, but the ratios are fabulous. I have also tested for hs-CRP inflammation in my arteries and Lp-PLA2 for plaque formation, and all is good. She is welcome to test me again if she wants to.
"She informed me she never prescribes cholesterol medications because they are so harmful. I almost fell out of my chair."
She also said she is not everyone's cup of tea. Some patients just want medications and do not want to be responsible. She can prescribe when people genuinely need it, but health is always the first priority.
I could go on and on raving about this woman. She was easy to talk to, very genuine, loves to learn, and cares about her patients. She took time with me, listened to me, and was thrilled that I am a naturopath. She did not roll her eyes when I said I choose not to get any vaccines as an adult. I keep my body and immune system strong, and they fight quite well for me. She agreed that I am doing what is right for my body.
I told her she will definitely be my new primary care.
A Quick Note on Cholesterol Numbers
Since this came up in my appointment, here is a brief breakdown of what I track and why:
| Marker | Christy's Value | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Total Cholesterol | 220–230 | Intentionally kept higher to protect brain function and hormone production |
| HDL (Good Cholesterol) | 80s | High HDL is protective — a strong marker of cardiovascular health |
| Triglycerides | 60–70 | Low triglycerides reflect a clean diet; above 100 indicates poor dietary habits |
| LDL | ~135 | The number alone means little — ratios and inflammation markers tell the real story |
| hs-CRP & Lp-PLA2 | All clear | These test for actual arterial inflammation and plaque formation — the true risk indicators |

She is taking new patients. She is located off Montgomery NE, just east of Carlisle. My 19-year-old daughter is establishing with her as well, and I am sure Ryan will be next.
If you have been searching for a provider who truly listens, respects your choices, and puts health first — this is her.
